Russ Feingold: “I Oppose The Death Penalty”

April 10, 2008 · 2 Comments

Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold wrote a great piece in CounterPunch concerning allocating resources to ensure those facing the death penalty (as long as we have a death penalty) are well represented legally. Any mainstream politician against the death penalty in this terribly vengeful US culture gets a certain degree of my respect, and Russ Feingold has been on point about this and a lot of other issues for awhile now.

(Note: I think it’s actually some good old fashioned straight up racism, using the death penalty as a means to exterminate black and brown folks, people who this country has always despised and who largely tend to vote Democratic; combined with this terribly manipulative idea of justified vengeance, an eye for an eye, largely used as propaganda to conversely justify the death penalty and therefore, justify the extermination of thousands of black and brown folk who the country hates and who also tend to vote Democratically, ya dig?)
